Steel Butt-weld Fittings
Our range of American Butt-weld fittings conform to the ASME/ANSI and MSS specifications. These specifications are mentioned below :

Applicable Specifications
Specifications applicable to buttweld fittings are:
  • ASME/ANSI B16.9-1993 - Factory-made wrought steel butt-welding fittings.
  • ASME/ANSI B16.28-1994 - Wrought steel butt-welding with short radius elbows and returns.
  • MSS SP-43 1991, Reaffirmed 1996 - This wrought steel butt-weld fitting applies to 5S, 10S, and 40S wall thicknesses only.
  • ASME/ANSI B16.25-1992 - Butt-welding ends. This defines various weld bevel designs and dimensions.
  • Wall Thicknesses - Fittings are made to suit the wall thicknesses of pipe.
  • Weights - quoted in the fitting tables are approximate based on manufacturer's data. Actual weights may vary.
Manufacture and Test
  • Materials and Manufacture - Our AMSE/ANSI and MSS stainless steel butt-welding fittings are mostly manufactured to ASTM A 403 standard.
  • ASME/ANSI Test Requirements - B19.9 and B16.28 are capable to withstand the rated pressure and do not require production testing of fittings.
  • Pressure Ratings - The rated pressure is as for straight seamless pipe of equivalent NPS, wall thickness and material.
  • Proof testing to qualify the fitting design consisting a bursting strength test. The fitting is required to withstand, without rupture, 105% of the pressure P given by:
    P = (2St) / D where
S = Actual tensile strength of a specimen
    t = Nominal wall thickness
    D = Outside diameter
  • MSS SP-43 Test Requirements - SP-43 does not need hydrostatic testing of fittings although they are capable of withstanding 1.5 times the pressure ratings at 100 °F:

Butt-weld Fitting Weights
The ASME/ANSI and MSS butt-weld fitting specifications do not specify wall thicknesses and weights. Weight quoted are completely based upon manufacturer's information and should be considered as approximate.

High Pressure Socket Weld and Threaded Fittings

Our range of high pressure socket weld and threaded fittings are fabricated to match with the ASME/ANSI B16.11-1991 and BS 3799:1974 standards. The different requirements such as dimensions, tolerances, manufacturing materials and pressure ratings, etc. are mentioned below :-

Specifications
The High pressure socket weld and threaded fittings can be availed with the following specifications:
  • ASME/ANSI B16.11-1991 - Forged fittings, socket-welding and threaded
  • BS 3799:1974 - Steel pipe fittings, screwed and socket-welding for the petroleum industry. The specifications is same as given in B16.11 and BS 3799 standard chart.
  • The wall thicknesses quoted are not restrictive but do correlate for calculation of pressure ratings.
  • Bore dimensions for Class 3000 lb socket welding fittings correspond to Schedule 40 pipe.
  • Bore dimensions for Class 6000 lb socket welding fittings correspond to Schedule 160 pipe.
Dimensions and Tolerances
Dimensions and Tolerances of high pressure socket fittings are specified in the standard table of ASME/ANSI B16.11.

Manufacture
  • ASME/ANSI B16.11-1991 - ASME/ANSI stainless steel socket weld or threaded fittings are most.
  • commonly manufactured from material conforming to ASTM A182
  • BS 3799:1974 - Manufacturing requirements are substantially the same as for B16.11.
  • Marking with manufacturers name or trademark
  • Material identification
  • Class or pressure ratings
Pressure Ratings

General: The class designation of the high pressure fittings indicates the maximum cold working pressure.

ASME/ANSI B16.11 Fittings: ASME/ANSI B16.11 specifies the allowable pressure or temperature rating to be that of seamless pipe of the equivalent material and wall thickness.

BS 3799 Fittings: BS 3799 includes a table of temperature or pressure rating.

Outlets: These fittings conform to the pressure requirements of ASME/ANSI B16.11
Outlets
In order to reduce costs and provide more flexible fabrication, outlets can be used in place of welded or threaded tees while maintaining full pipe strength for all weights, sizes and schedules. Here, we are throwing light on the dimensions of socket weld, threaded and butt-weld outlets.

Specifications :

Manufacture
  • Socket weld and threaded outlets are manufactured to the requirements of ASME/ ANSI B16.11
  • Butt-weld outlets are manufactured to the requirements of ASME/ANSI B16.9
  • Factory-made wrought steel butt-welding fittings, although outlet dimensions are not specified in B16.9.
Pressure Rating
Outlets are rated the same as seamless steel pipe, as defined in the American National Standard Codes for Pressure Piping, ANSI B31.1 and B31.3, the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.

Designations
In order to reduce warehouse inventories, outlets of the same size are designed to be used with the range of run pipe sizes. This can be done without causing a problem when welding because the resulting maximum gap between welded surfaces caused by the curvature of the outlet when compared with the pipe is only 1/32 inches.

American Standards Flanges
  • Materials: Most standards specify the material from which the flange is produced. The buyer should specify the exact requirements.
  • Flange Sizes: All grades and sizes compatible to standard pipe ranges and wall thicknesses (pressure ratings) are available.
  • Flange Face: We offer flanges in various face configurations like flat face, raised face, tongue and groove, ring joint.
  • Face Finish: The finish on the flange face is determined as an Arithmetical Average Roughness Height (AARH). The finish is determined by the standard used. For example, ANSI B16.5 specifies face finishes within a range 125AARH - 500AARH (3.2 Ra to 12.5 Ra). Other finishes are available on request, for example 1.6 Ra max, 3.2/6.3 Ra, 1.6/3.2 Ra or 6.3/12.5 Ra. The range 3.2/6.3 Ra is most popular.
